Hillview Pavilion

A simple, pavilion addition to a historic cottage, conceived as a simple plane topped with wildflowers.

This restrained and understated addition to a traditional house, creates a serene space which feels part of the garden, and frames key views to the hills..

This is a building of dark steel and glass, sitting atop a concrete plinth, which runs seamlessly from inside to outside, and forms terraced planting which connects to the sloping garden. The form of the building provides a covered external space, allowing family life to flow out into the garden, and creating a covered space with views to the landscape.

A modest and uncomplicated materials palette has been utilised throughout, ensuring that the project adopts an understated presence within the garden. This results in a quiet and unpretentious piece of architecture, which allows the natural context to take centre stage.

Our journey with Brown & Brown has been nothing short of transformational. Creating a stunning space that has changed the way we live in our home and immersing us in new and ever changing views of the surrounding landscape.

We are increasingly asked to complete the interior design of a building. For us, this is an obvious step to ensuring the space blends with the landscape, from the inside out. Selecting complimentary materials, fixtures and furnishings that ebb and flow throughout the building is considered not as an afterthought, but as an integral part of the design process.
