Meet Hazel

Meet Hazel

A few months ago, we welcomed Hazel Roe-Bose to the Brown & Brown team as our newest Architect. Despite joining us during a time of remote working and social distancing, Hazel has settled in very well and contributed a great deal in her short time with us already.

We grabbed five minutes to talk globetrotting, delivering solutions for clients and weaving...

How did you end up here?

I’ve almost made a complete circumnavigation of the globe, having been in Newfoundland, Australia and Finland before coming to Scotland to live and work in 2015. Following some years working at another practice, I joined Brown & Brown earlier in 2021.

What does your role with Brown & Brown involve?

Collaborating with clients and team members to develop and deliver elegant solutions (with a pinch of delight!), and always aiming to exceed the expectations of each brief.

What does a typical day look like?

Things are a little bit different right now as we are still based at home for the time being. Most days I am in my study, working on projects.

Any architectural heroes?

While I don’t have any particular heroes, I draw inspiration from a wide range of sources, including modern Nordic, Australian and North American design.

Have you managed to work in the Brown & Brown studio yet or has it all been remote so far?

So far it has all been remote due to COVID. Having now settled in Strathdon, I’m looking forward to when we’re all able to work in the same space together — hopefully sometime soon!

Do you prefer a quiet or noisy workspace?

Somewhere in between is best! That being said, once I get into the zone it doesn’t make much difference to me. When I’m feeling like some background music I can be found with my headphones in.

Favourite thing about your job?

Weaving basic threads into carefully considered tapestries.

What do you like doing when you're not at work?

Outside of work I enjoy baking, spending time outdoors with my dog, practicing yoga and weaving.

Describe Brown & Brown in three words.

Made To Measure.
